Long Beach Remembers Pearl Harbor: 1942-A Year That Changed Our City The HSLB asks the community to share personal items for possible use in an exhibition. We are looking for photographs taken in Long Beach ? letters ? journals - diaries - printed materials ? documents - pay stubs - event programs. Contributors can enjoy refreshments while HSLB staff makes copies of their treasures. And contributors can take items home the same day Please allow 2 hours and call 562.424.2220 for an appointment time. The HSLB is collecting historical materials related to the direct effects on Long Beach as a result of the 1941 Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. The United States? entrance to World War II had far-reaching effects on Long Beach. This project will explore changes to the local infrastructure, economy, and community. Our focus is on ??????????Memorial services for those lost at Pearl Harbor ? ??????????Naval Station and Shipyard ? ??????????Naval Hospital - ??????????Army Air Transport Command Ferrying Division ? ??????????Relocation of Japanese people ? ??????????Civil Air Patrol - ??????????Pearl Harbor survivor groups ? ??????????Shipyard workers ? ??????????Women?s roles ? ??????????Airplane spotters. Some items collected will be used in an exhibition that opens on December 7, 2016, the 75th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
