STATEMENT
On behalf of the Chamber’s leadership, members, and community partners, we are saddened to hear of the passing of Jim Michaelian, President of the Long Beach Grand Prix Association.
Jim played a significant role in shaping the Grand Prix of Long Beach into what it is today. His work brought people into our city, supported local businesses, and created something that Long Beach is known for around the world.
Under his leadership, the Chamber recognized that impact by presenting the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach with the Destination Tomorrow award in 1991, one of our most prestigious honors bestowed on an organization or company.
We recently had the opportunity to welcome Jim to a Chamber Board of Directors meeting, where he shared the future of the Grand Prix and what’s ahead. It was a reminder of how invested he remained in this event and in Long Beach. He will forever be missed!
Our thoughts are with his family and the entire Grand Prix Association team during this time.
