New Exhibit: "Carrying the Pacific: Pregnancy, Birth, and Parenthood"
The Pacific Island Ethnic Art Museum (PIEAM) presents Carrying the Pacific: Pregnancy, Birth, and Parenthood on view from Saturday, July 20, 2019 to Wednesday, December 31, 2019. This exhibit is the first of its kind that centers on Pacific Islanders’ birthing traditions, experiences and voices. Visitors will hear from culture-bearers, and see works by Pacific Islander contemporary artists Roldy Aguero, Micki Davis, Dan Taulapapa McMullin, Jason (JP) Periera, Samantha Winter Tagaloa, Lilo Tauvae, and Roquin-Jon Quichocho Siongco. Ethnographic art from PIEAM’s permanent collection will be interwoven to highlight connections with Pacific Islanders’ ancestors.
