Looking for a new sport to master or contemplating a game? Maybe seeking a sport that can be played both recreationally or could get you into national and international competition or possibly a sport that you can continue playing well into your 80’s
Think Lawn Bowling.
Lawn bowling can be described as a cross between bocce and curling (remember that funny sport that they played during winter Olympics?) It’s a sport that involves rolling Bowls (round-like balls that are slightly lopsided) towards a small white ball, called a Jack. Skill and finesse are required because the bowl will curve slightly at the end of its roll. The object is to get your bowls closer to the jack than your opponent.
On May 13th from 10 am until 3 pm the Long Beach Lawn Bowling Club will be hosting its annual Open House. We invite you to take a short lesson and then spend some time on the greens (the area where the game is played) honing your skill at delivering (rolling) the bowl.
If that’s not enough of an enticement, the price is right (FREE) and refreshments, including, Pizza will be served
