Conversations in Place 2017 - The Sixth Outstanding Season continues… “Timeless Space & Values” Sunday, October 22, 2017 1:30–3:30PM The sixth season continues the discussion of the different nuances of time with “Timeless Space & Values”. In this second conversation are Allison Carruth, Ph.D., director of the Laboratory for Environmental Narrative Strategies, Henry Jenkins, Ph.D., Provost Professor of Communication, Journalism, Cinematic Arts & Education at USC, Michael Saler, Ph.D., Professor of History at UC Davis, Rubén Martínez, writer, musician and Emmy Award-winning journalist, Kristen Muller, Emmy and award-winning journalist, former producer of CBS Evening News & associate producer at 60 Minutes II, and Lynell George, an award-winning L.A.-based journalist, former staff writer for the Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly. These outstanding scholars will analyze how stories—from science fiction, fantasy, to the “face” of the news, help us navigate our place in a changing world, offering possibilities, reflecting reality, and revealing the timeless value of lives within.
