Conversations in Place 2015 ? Livable Places
Continuing a tradition of lively, informative conversation at the historic Rancho Los Alamitos in Long Beach, Conversations in Place 2015 will question ?How Places Are Made.? The topic for the third Conversation in the four-part series will be Livable Places featuring Mia Lehrer, founder, Mia Lehrer + Associates landscape design and lead in the development of open space for the Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan. She will be joined in conversation by Joel Kotkin, international expert on economic, political and social trends; Martin D. Howard, CEO/President of Howard¦CDM in Long Beach and a creator of BIKEable Communities; Julia Huang, CEO interTrend Communications which works with Fortune 500 companies focused on the growing Asian American market; Don Neff, the owner of Neff Ranch, Ltd. which sells exclusively to local farmers? markets; and D. J. Waldie, Moderator, noted author and life-long resident of Lakewood. The conversation will examine how development at the neighborhood and the regional levels might nourish the perennial values of Southern California living while respecting and enhancing diverse definitions of community, home, and family life. Parking for the event will be at California State University, Long Beach Lot 11A, enter at "CSULB PRKG" off of Palo Verde Avenue, between Atherton and University Drive. Parking and continuous handicap accessible shuttle service to and from the Rancho are free of charge.
