John Shen is the founder and current Chief Executive Officer of American Lending Center (ALC) headquartered in Long Beach, California.
American Lending Center (ALC) is a private non-bank lending institution and nationally recognized leader in small business lending. ALC provides commercial loans to eligible small businesses nationwide primarily through the Small Business Administration (SBA) programs. In June 2020, the Department of Treasury and SBA approved ALC as a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) lender. ALC is one of only a handful of nonbank PPP lenders so designated to provide immediate financial relief to struggling small businesses through the program authorized by the CARES Act.
As a big advocate of entrepreneurship and startups, John has great passion for small businesses. Over the last decade, his leadership has guided ALC to become one of the most successful small business lenders in the country. John received the Coleman Report’s “SBA 504 Lender of the Year Award” for his outstanding contributions in 2017. Currently serving on the Economic Development Commission for the City of Long Beach, Mr. Shen is also an entrepreneurial ecosystem builder and co-founded the Long Beach Accelerator™ to facilitate the growth of tech startups along with the City of Long Beach and the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at California State University Long Beach.
Scott Thompson,
VP, Compliance Officer

As Compliance Officer at American Lending Center, Scott trains key staff on regulations and procedures for all lending lines of business. He also has an active role in managing the origination, underwriting and forgiveness of Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans.
Scott has been an advocate for small business owners for over 14 years. Prior to joining American Lending Center, he previously worked as an Assistant VP at First California Bank and as a Business Development Officer at East West Bank specializing in the SBA 7(a) and 504 loan programs. Throughout his career he has helped thousands of businesses and organizations with access to capital, business development and optimization.
Mr. Thompson holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University, and an Entry Certificate in Business Analysis from the International Institute of Business Analysis. His professional training includes completion of numerous SBA lending courses and workshops offered by the SBA, SBDC, SCORE, NAGGL and Coleman Publishing.

Adam’s work in Long Beach has led to over $130 million in direct private commercial real estate investment and defined Long Beach as the region's hub for Entrepreneurship. He’s been a consistent business advocate culminating in numerous programs that support business retention, attraction, and expansion in Downtown Long Beach. Adam serves as the current Board Chair for the Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at California State University Long Beach, immediate past President of the Long Beach Commercial Real Estate Council and was appointed by Supervisor Janice Hahn to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Economic Resiliency Task Force to leverage public-private partnerships to improve the economy, create jobs, and return to full employment.
