Topic Risk Less, Save More: The Workers’ Comp Advantage
Workers’ compensation is one of the most significant insurance costs for businesses—especially in high-risk industries such as construction, logistics, and staffing. However, your premiums and Experience Modification Rate (Ex-Mod) aren’t just a reflection of risk—they’re also the result of strategy.
In this session, attendees will learn how to analyze loss trends, manage claims more effectively, and implement proactive safety measures that directly reduce insurance costs. Participants will leave equipped with actionable tools to lower claim frequency and duration, improve claims outcomes, and strengthen their organization’s risk profile.
Whether you’re in operations, HR, safety, or finance, this session will provide real-world tactics to reduce your total cost of risk and take control of your workers’ compensation program.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the top three drivers that increase workers’ compensation premiums and Ex-Mod rates.
- Analyze loss runs to detect patterns that lead to higher claim frequency and costs.
- Apply strategies to reduce open claim duration and improve outcomes through timely medical care and documentation.
- Calculate the financial impact of Ex-Mod changes on total premium using real-world examples.
- Implement at least two proactive safety or claims management measures to improve risk profile and reduce future premiums.
