DESCRIPTION:Join us for our monthly in-person Good Afternoon Long Beach event!\n\n\n\nWe will hear from Long Beach City Prosecutor Doug Haubert\n\n\n\nAbout City Prosecutor Doug Haubert: Doug Haubert is a skilled attorney with 22 years of experience as a civil and criminal prosecutor.  He was elected Long Beach City Prosecutor in 2010\, and re-elected in 2014 and 2018.\n\n \n\nAs City Prosecutor\, Doug started Long Beach\, California's Gang Prevention Strategy\, which has been called a "model" for other cities\, and "the most effective and innovative gang prevention strategy in use today\," by Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell. In addition to reducing gang violence\, City Prosecutor Haubert is also recognized as a national leader in court diversion programs.  In 2016\, he launched a program to divert nonviolent\, first-time offenders out of court and into jobs and work-readiness programs.  This program\, called "Promising Adults\, Tomorrow's Hope\," or P.A.T.H.\, aims to improve employment outcomes while reducing recidivism. \n\n \n\nPrograms led by City Prosecutor Haubert have helped bring significant grant funding to the City of Long Beach.  The City Prosecutor's Office itself has received over one half-million dollars from the United States Department of Justice for youth gang prevention and court diversion.  Most recently\, Long Beach was chosen for the USDOJ's Innovative Prosecution Solutions grant which will help police officers connect homeless people to critical social services using technology developed by Laserfiche\, a global company headquartered in Long Beach.\n\n \n\nCity Prosecutor Haubert has served on the California State Bar Public Law Executive Committee\, the Long Beach Public Library Foundation\, and Goodwill Industries of Southern Los Angeles Board of Directors. He is currently the Vice President of the Los Angeles County Prosecutors Association\, and Chairman of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) of Southern California.
