DESCRIPTION:A Historic Long Beach Music & Peace\, Cultural Celebration to Put the SOUL in Solstice \n \n\nA tribute to - and performance by - the Father of Southern California Jazz and creator of the Long Beach Jazz Festival in 1988 highlight a weekend of music\, family fun\, food\, health\, environment\, culture\, community\, peace\, and love for all beings. \n \n\nThe California Vegan SOUL-stice happens at the Sports Basement 3rd floor "Flight Deck"\, 2100 N. Bellflower Blvd.\, Long Beach - Saturday June 20 noon - 6pm and Sunday June 21 noon - 5pm\, featuring Reggae on Saturday and Jazz on Sunday.\n \n\nThe superstar Saturday lineup includes Lamour & The Mystik Band\, Empress Akua\, Queen Theresa King\, Ras Ken and Da Fari Soldiers\, and Mr. Suprize.\n \n\nThe Sunday celebration - Father's Day - centers on a tribute to and rare performance by - the Al Williams Quintet\, featuring vocalist Valerie Monroe\, a singer in Ray Charles' "Raelettes". Mr. Williams\, founder of the Long Beach Jazz Festival 38 years ago\, and proprietor of iconic Long Beach Jazz venues Birdland West and Jazz Safari\, will be honored with a Long Beach City Proclamation in recognition of his lifetime contribution to culture and the arts.\n \n\nThis California Vegan SOUL-stice\, happening on the days of most light\, is dedicated to Peace for all beings and ending the darkness of war and violence.
